Got rejected in creative market-requesting for creative market shop
I am a designer who was looking for websites to sell my seamless patterns. I was a newcomer and came to know about the creative market and thought of giving it a try. In this post, I will describe to you my journey with the creative market like how I applied and what are mistakes I did.
As soon as I came to know about the creative market I went and checked many reviews about it and many said it's good and they actually make a good income from it. I planned to prepare and complete this work within three days so went and checked the requirements to apply
"We like to see at least 10 - 20 examples of your best work to evaluate you in a complete manner. Ideally, these samples should pertain to what you plan to sell on Creative Market."
I went to the creative market contributor site to request a shop and they asked me to provide the following
1. 20 to 10 designs ( i created 20 designs)
2. link of my shop (if you sell on any other website then you have to provide that shop link here, I provided my Shutterstock link)
3. link to your portfolio.
Well, I had no idea about online portfolios the first thing is I didn't know that we can create a portfolio website and next how to create it. started doing an analysis on how to create it and came to know about Behance and created a portfolio.
Finally, prepared everything I want, said why I need to open a shop, and sent a request invitation. I was so confident and started preparing products for my shop but...
After two days I got a mail
yes, my request is rejected. which was quick shocking and disappointing to me but didn't break me down, I am trying many things and it is just one in it.
I am really happy that I tried it. Actually, I learned several things, I came to known about Behance and learned how to make an online portfolio and it is really helpful to me now it makes me look more professional and useful to apply to other sites.
I think I should have spent some more time and effort in creating my products and portfolio this may be my mistake. As I was new to Behance and even I had no idea about how to create an online portfolio I think my portfolio was no that professional.
If you are going to apply, then my tip is to give your best and if you got rejected don't worry. You are not the only one who faced rejection and the creative market is not the only place to sell your work. I am sharing my experience to show you are not alone and rejection doesn't mean that you are not talented. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU LOVE!
